As a professional photographer, he feels a sense of responsibility especially under this hard time of lockdown, and his ambition is to show China to the whole world through his lens.
Message for SEU is just simple and short “thank you”
Hello, my name is Hamza Asif Khan. I’m from Pakistan. Like many Pakistani, I chose China for further study because of the brotherly relationship between Pakistan and China. I came to China three years ago, and got my master’s degree from Chongqing University. People, faculties and my supervisor all are so friendly and supportive, and I never felt like it’s been 3 years away from home now just because of kind gestures of Chinese people.
After graduation, I continued to pursue my PhD degree in China. SEU is an ideal university for me to come and continue my research progress as it is one of the best universities in the field of technology. It’s my privilege to come to such well-reputed university and enjoy the atmosphere and environment over here.
It has been never easy to get admitted by a well-reputed university for PhD, but I guess I was lucky enough to be admitted by SEU. Special appreciations should be sent to my supervisor, Prof Zhang Jingjing from School of Information Science and Engineering. After a nice discussion during interview, she agreed to accept me in her research group as a PhD student and offered me a “Letter of Acceptance”. I’m very impressed with my supervisor, who is ideal for me. Her good gesture impacts me a lot and her helping hand is always available whenever I need.
I would credit my time three years ago as my first chance to form meaningful friendship and connections with Chinese people. I’ve spent a lot of time on campus, with fond memories of capturing a certain moment or scenery. Moreover, although life in China is all wonderful, Nanjing gives me a feeling of separate grace. I captured photos of Tranquility and Exuberance in SEU Campus, Xuanwu Lake, Nanjing Eye, Zhongshan Mountain… Sunset at Xuanwu Lake is the best feeling in Nanjing ever. With this photo, I was also awarded in a Nanjing Photography Exhibition.
Thank you for each and everything. Because SEU is like a family to me now.
Photography is more than a hobby
I found my true calling while studying in China, where I discovered my passion for photographing China’s incredible natural sights. Photography is always a passion for me. I love travelling and exploring new places. Simply you can’t visit one place time to time, but pictures are the source of capturing memories for the future. I want to capture every moment of my life in the camera’s eye so that when I become old, these pictures will remind beautiful moments of my life. Photography means a lot to me.
Being a photographer, I feel so good whenever I go somewhere because I think I see things differently from other people. A lot of people turn to photography as a hobby, because aside from providing them with a fun and engaging activity, it also gives them a means of expressing their creativity. But there’s more to it than that. In many ways, photography can also positively influence my mindset and change the way I approach life.
Hamza’s photography collection
Photography always sees and examine situations differently. Photography never let me down and gives me spirit and hope even in worst situations. When you’re passionate about something, nothing can stop you.
Future plan
I came China to fulfill my dreams and to learn frontier technology in mobile communication so as to serve my country in a better way. Currently the whole world is disconnected and travelling opportunities is so less, so my ambition is to show China to the whole world through my photography. Moreover, I would like to say to my family and friends: keep praying for my success.
