Delegation Led by Secretary of the Party Committee of SEU Yi Hong Visited Universities in Norway and Denmark

Having been invited by then presidents of Norwegian University of Science and Technology and  The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, Schools of Architecture, Design and Conservation(KADK), the party secretary of Southeast University, Yi hong, visited these two universities from November 25 to December 1. Prof. Fu Dafang of School of Civil Engineering, Prof. Dong Wei of School of Architecture, director of party committee office Feng Jianming, vice director of International Cooperation Department Ye Zhirui accompanied.

Founded in 1760, Norwegian University of Science and Technology is located in Trondheim, Norway's third largest city. It is Norwegian top research center for engineering and industrial technology, and also is one of the leading European universities in science and engineering. During the the delegation’s visit to the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, the president of the university, professor Gunnar Bovim met the delegation. During the meeting, President Bovim briefly introduced the basic situation of Norwegian university. He said that China's minister of science and technology Wan Gang visited Norway at the end of August and signed a plan of action with Norwegian education and research minister Isaksen on the two countries' scientific and technological innovation cooperation, which shows China and Norway innovation cooperation has entered a new stage. The Norwegian University of Science and Technology attaches great importance to its cooperation with Chinese universities and hopes to establish a long-term strategic partnership with leading universities and research institutions such as Southeast University. Yi said that the Southeast University and the Norwegian University of Science and Technology have signed the framework cooperation agreement in 2014. At present, the cooperation between the two universities mainly focuses on school of architecture. The team, led by professor Dong Wei, is working with architecture school of the Norwegian University of Science and Technology to study the protection of the world's famous historical and cultural city of Pingyao in shanxi province. Yi hoped that in the future we could strengthen exchange visits and cooperation between students and professors, expand cooperation between the two schools to more areas and establish substantive and comprehensive cooperation.


Afterwards, the delegation visited the department of civil and environmental engineering, architecture college and interdisciplinary industrial ecology research center of the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, and visited the building energy efficiency research office, and held fruitful talks with Professor Carl Thodesen, dean of the department of civil and environmental engineering, and professor Carl Fredrik Lutken Shetelig, dean of the school of architecture. They agreed on the inter-governmental science and technology project for joint teaching and cooperation applications.

The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, Schools of Architecture, Design and Conservation(KADK) is located in the Danish capital, Copenhagen. Founded in 1754 and has a history of more than 250 years, it is one of the oldest architecture schools in the world, with more than 2,000 students. During the visit, the principal, professor Lene Dammand Lund, dean of school of architecture, professor Jakob Knudsen, and dean of department of architecture and technology research, professor Natalie Mossin, met the delegation. The principal, professor Lene Dammand Lund attached great importance to the visit of the delegation of Southeast University. He introduced a series of research projects related to the United Nations global development strategy in the field of energy environment, and welcomed the participation of the world excellent research team. Yi briefly introduced the basic situation of the engineering subject of Southeast University. He said that the school of civil engineering of Southeast University is working closely with KADK. The two sides jointly held the forth international student study camps with fruitful results. Based on this, he hoped that the two universities could further carry out the exchange of students and the cooperation of joint cultivation in postgraduate level. At the same time, the two sides could strengthen the substantive cooperation in scientific research and jointly apply for the research projects supported by the two governments.

During the visit to Denmark and Norway, the delegation also met the teachers and students of the exchange, held a forum on talent recruitment, introduced the scientific research situation of Southeast University and the recruitment of high-level talents to the excellent Chinese students and scholars who have been willing to return to China. They communicated with the scholars, and hoped they could return to the country and devote themselves to China’s scientific research and education.
