On December 20, the opening ceremony of the Joint Research Institute on Internet of Mobility between Southeast University and University of Wisconsin, and International Seminar on Connected Automated Transportation System Development washeld in Nanjing. Luo Qun, member of the standing committee of Nanjing, deputy secretary of the working committee of area north of the Yangtze River, Zuo Wei, deputy secretary of the party committee of Southeast University, Jeff Russell, vice president of University of Wisconsin, Cai Renjie, director of Jiangsu Communications Holding Co. Ltd., Jin Ling and Ding Junhua, vice directors of Jiangsu Transportation Department, attended the ceremony. The opening ceremony was hosted by Wu Gang, vice president of Southeast University.

At the opening ceremony, Zuo Wei, the deputy secretary of standing committee, expressed his welcome and thanks to all guests and representatives. He says that intelligent network transportation is an important opportunity in the transportation field. The related disciplines such as transportation, mechanics, civil engineering, electronics, computer science, automation are preponderant disciplines in Southeast University and the University of Wisconsin. The establishment of the joint research institute will promote the cooperation, multidisciplinary integration, andbuild a world-class intelligent networktransportation discipline group. The international seminar has an important practical and strategic significance for promoting the development of the transportation industry. Vice president Wu Gang read the approval of establishing The Joint Research Institute on Internet of Mobility between Southeast University and University of Wisconsin, and announced the head and academic committee members. Subsequently, Zuo Wei and Jeff Russell jointly inaugurated the institute.


After the unveiling ceremony, Professor Ran Bin, the dean of the Joint Research Institute, made a report on the development plan of the institute, focusing on its research team, research cooperation, talents training, industry standards and industrial transformation, and put forward the goal of the institute in the future.

Later in the international seminar, Wang Wei, the director of department of civil engineering and transportation, Li Keqiang, director of intelligent network car and transportation research center of Tsinghua University, David Noyce, director of civil and environmental engineering department of University of Wisconsin etc., made academic reports respectively.
