Wu Gang- dean of School of Civil Engineering of SEU Won the First Prize at the First National Young College Teachers' Teaching Competition

    From August 24 to 27, the First National Young College Teachers' Teaching Competition was hosted at Tianjin University by Trade Union of China Education body. Altogether 93 teachers from the universities such as Tsinghua University, Peking University, Zhejiang University, and University of Science and Technology of China competed in three subject groups, namely arts, science and engineering.
    Wu Gang- dean of School of Civil Engineering of SEU competed in the engineering group on behalf of Jiangsu and ranked second and was awarded the first prize with excellent performance among the 31 contestants. The other first prize winners in the engineering group were young teachers on behalf of Tsinghua University, Tianjin University, Institutes of Technology of South China and Southwest Petroleum University. The contestants of Jiangsu in the arts and science groups won the second and third prize respectively.
    The leaders attending the prize awarding ceremony included Mr. Ni Jianmin-All-China Federation of Trade Unions, Mr. Xu Tao-teachers' work secretary of the Ministry of Education, and Ms. Zhu Liping-member of the Standing Committee of the Municipal Party Committee of Tianjin.
    It is reported that 2012 is an national year of higher education quality. The National Committee of Trade Union of China Education body decided to launch comprehensible teaching competitions among young college teachers in order to encourage young college teachers to update teaching concept and master modern teaching methods, try to make a high-quality, professional faculty team with noble morals, superb expertise, reasonable structure and full enthusiasm.
