On the evening of April 12 local time in Tennessee, a special performance concert named "East meets West” co-sponsored by the University of Tennessee and SEU was successfully held in the concert hall at University of Tennessee. Many SEU faculties such as President Yi Hong, Vice-President Liu Bo and Vice-President Huang Dawei watched the performance, accompanied by President of the University of Tennessee Jimmy G·Cheek and Dean of the Confucius Institute of the University of Tennessee Xiao Shilun.
The whole concert, with "East meets West” as its theme, was composed of folk music, folk songs, folk dance and so on. The official show kicked off right after a beautiful organ performance "Ode to Joy" presented by former President of the university of Tennessee. The audience enjoyed such programs as folk music ensemble—"Plum-blossom in Three Movements""Sunset Flute and Drum", folk dance— “Ode to Lotus Flowera chorus of “Sound of Wind”. ” and During its visit to Tennessee, SEU’s Art Troupe in addition attended two interactive activities as well as the opening ceremony of the Confucius Institute of the University of Tennessee.
