According to the latest news of the official website of Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), 300 scholars around the globe are newly elected as IEEE fellows, among which 14 are from China mainland. Three professors from Southeast University are included for their magnificent contributions in their research fields.
Professor Cheng Ming from School of Electrical Engineering was elected for his contributions to the development and control of stator permanent magnet machines for vehicular propulsion and wind power generation. Professor Cui Tiejun from School of Information Science and Engineering was elected for his contributions to microwave metamaterials and computational electromagnetics. Professor Gao Xiqi from School of Information Science and Engineering was elected for his contributions to broadband wireless communications and multirate signal processing.
The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) is a professional association with its corporate office in New York City and its operations center in Piscataway, New Jersey. It was formed in 1963 from the amalgamation of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers and the Institute of Radio Engineers. Today it is the world's largest association of technical professionals with more than 400,000 members in chapters around the world. Its objectives are the educational and technical advancement of electrical and electronic engineering, telecommunications, computer engineering and allied disciplines.
Southeast University has altogether 7 IEEE fellows including the above three. The rest four are professor He Zhenya (Life Fellow, passed away), Professor Zhang Wenxun, Professor Hongwei, and Professor You Xiaohu.
