A Delegation of Southeast University Paid an Exchange Visit to Australia

From January 22 to 25, a delegation of Southeast University, led by the Executive Vice President Wang Baoping, visited Monash University, Royal Melbourne Institution of Technology University, Australia. During the trip, the delegation also visited Education Office of Consulate-General of China in Melbourne, meeting excellent young Chinese talents, and participating in the annual meeting of alumni association of Southeast University in Melbourne.

 


During the visit to Monash University, the delegation met its leadership and related officials of Graduate School, Faculty of Science, and Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences. They are : the Provost Professor Pauline Nestor, the Chief Financial Officer and Senior Vice President Professor David Pitt, the Pro Vice Chancellor and President Professor Aibing Yu, the Academic Vice-President and Dean of Engineering Professor Frieder Seible, the Vice-Provost Professor Ian Smith, the Acting Dean of Business and Economics Professor Richard Hall, and the Chief of Staff and Director of Office of Vice-Chancellor Ms Jane Mcloughlin. They discussed the cooperation of Southeast University-Monash University Joint Graduate School (Suzhou) -- its current master degree program, setting up masters by research and PhD program. They also deeply discussed issues, such as research platform construction, finance, personnel matters and all-round cooperation between the two schools. These especially laid the foundation for further development of Suzhou Joint Graduate School.

  



During the trip to RMIT University, the delegation met Professor Andrew Maclntyre -- Deputy Vice-Chancellor Global Development and Vice-President, Professor Calum Drummond -- Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research and Innovation and Vice-President, the Vice-President Professor Xinghuo Yu and related officials of School of Media and Communication, School of Electrical Engineering, School of Health and Bio-medical Sciences and School of Information Systems. The two sides agreed to further strengthen the exchange and cooperation between professors and faculties on the basis of the current students' exchange activities and initially set out the key cooperation direction for the future in the fields of electrical engineering, electronic engineering, bio-medical engineering, computer and information engineering.

  



During the stay in Australia, the delegation also visited the Education Office of the China Consulate General in Melbourne and met with outstanding young talents. In the talks, Vice President Wang Baoping introduced the basic situation of Southeast University and talents introduction policies. He encouraged young scholars to return to China to contribute to the construction of the motherland. The delegation also participated in the annual meeting of the alumni association of Southeast University in Melbourne, bringing New Year greetings and introducing the achievements and development of the school in recent years.
