From May 10th to 14th, as the gift for Southeast University 115 anniversary, CCTV "The Reader " set its reading hall in Southeast University Jiu Longhu Campus. This activity attracted more than 500 participants and recorded 2047 minutes audio material.
The activity is organized by the Propaganda Department of the Party Committee and co-organized by the School of Mathematics. On the afternoon of May 10, Liu Bo, executive vice party secretary, accompanied by the propaganda department minister Mao Huixi, went to the activity site to visit and greet the CCTV staff and the volunteer students. She pointed out that it’s significant to set the reading hall in the school with the 115th anniversary approaching. Through reading, faculties and students could review school history and pour out their love to the teachers, schoolmates, families and friends. This activity not only served as a gift to the school’s anniversary, enriching campus life, but also created a feeling and warm campus culture which infected, encouraged and educated people imperceptibly.
The reading pavilion was located on the east side of the main entrance of Li Wenzheng Library. Inside the pavilion, there were cameras and a set of complete recording equipment. Outside the pavilion, the staff could remotely control the “atomizing” equipment to adjust the original glass to ground glass, assuring the readers expressed their emotions and immersed in reading without interference. In the past five days, teachers and students of SEU, primary and secondary school students and reading enthusiasts brought their interested articles, poetry and excerpts of classics to the reading pavilion. Through reading, they told the stories buried in the bottom of the heart, expressed the love to alma master, parents, families and friends, conveyed warm and positive power. After reading, some of the readers took a group picture and they will receive a memorial CD from the organizers.
"The Reader" is a large-scale cultural and emotional program launched by CCTV. In the program, the participants combine their personal growth, emotional experience, background stories with great masterpiece, using the fine text and the plainest emotions to find the value behind the words and present the real and blazing emotions. The first reading hall was set in front of the National Library of China, in Beijing. And then in Xi’an, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Nanjing and other cities, we could also find it. And it generated lots of reading heat in universities and colleges like Peking University, Tsinghua University, Zhongshan University. And the Southeast University is the last station of the reading pavilion.
